Wagashi (Traditional Japanese Sweets) and Manga

Jan 26 - Jun 26
Details:

Manga is beloved around the world. While each region has its own unique manga culture, such as English comics and cartoons, French bande dessinée, and Chinese manhua, it is uniquely Japanese that manga attracts a wide range of fans regardless of age or gender.
This exhibition will introduce manga works featuring traditional Japanese sweets. Not limited to works where a traditional sweet shop is the setting, the gallery has chosen those that not only revolve around sweets but also capture the reader's interest in Japanese confections, making them think, "I want to try this sweet!" Though just a selection from the numerous outstanding works, visitors are invited to rediscover the charm of traditional Japanese sweets through manga.
