Planning to take your business to the next level and start selling products online and reach a bigger audience? We’ve prepared a short checklist to help you get your business up and running on the web.

1. Purchase a domain name

A domain name is a unique name or address that will help your clients identify your business in the web. These may be purchased from ICANN accredited domain name registrars such as Namecheap, Wix, or GoDaddy, to name just a few.

2. Obtain a host for your website

Websites are composed of different elements that need to be readily available for online viewing. Hosting providers make this possible by allocating space on a web server where files such as images, code, text and certificates may be stored. Namecheap, Wix and GoDaddy offer hosting plans as well.

3. Build a website

Websites are built using code. If you don’t know how to code, there are plenty of website builders nowadays that simplify this task, no coding skills needed. WordPress is a comprehensive and powerful platform complete with all the necessary tools and plugins to help you bring your site to life.

4. Connect an ecommerce platform to your website

An ecommerce platform is a piece of software used to manage online product sales, inventory, pricing, marketing and many other digital business related operations. Some platforms we would recommend are WooCommerce and Shopify.

5. Make sure your website is trustworthy

Activate an SSL certificate to assure customers your website are secure and safe for online shopping.

6. Create social media presence

Open Instagram and Facebook accounts for your business to spread the word; connect with future possible clients and reach a wider audience. Social media platforms are also great places to sell your products through ecommerce shop integration.
