Haruka Yamada Exhibition

Nov 1 - Dec 10
Details:

Artist: Haruka Yamada

"Sun of the City," a project that began in 2013 and has been realized several times around the world, is a sundial that uses existing structures in urban spaces to create a sundial that functions only in that location. The project connects daily life and the celestial bodies through the global system of time and latitude/longitude.

This solo exhibition explores ways to reconstruct and reinterpret the site-specific sundials that have been realized in various locations. The sundials, which have been transposed or replicated in several ways, are presented as a shadow of the sundial that still exists (or once existed) somewhere in the world by representing the absence of the actual sundial, which may be functioning in a remote location.

The gallery will also participate in Art Week Tokyo 2023 with this exhibition.
