Various accessibility functions on your smartphone!

Your smartphone actually has a large number of accessibility functions built in. On an iPhone, go to Settings > Accessibility, and on an Android, go to Settings > Accessibility. However, you may be surprised to find that you haven't actually used many of these functions.

This time, we will be holding a workshop to exchange opinions while actually experiencing the accessibility functions together with the attendees at the venue! The first step in accessibility is to know how it is being used. And the clues are actually in your hands.

In addition, even if you are using accessibility functions on a regular basis, please join us! We would be happy if you could share how you use them.

Notes

You will be using your own smartphone. Please bring an iPhone or Android smartphone.

There is a possibility that participants will be showing each other screens showing them using the functions. We recommend that you prepare your home screen etc. in a way that it is okay to show it to other people, and avoid accidentally opening private content.

This time, the workshop will be held mainly for the participants at the venue.

For those who will attend online

The overview at the beginning of the session and explanations of each accessibility function will be broadcast online. After the explanation, you will be able to try out the functions in the location where you are watching.

In order to prioritize on-site operational support, it is highly likely that we will not be able to answer questions from online attendees in real time (we will answer as much as possible at the end of the event).

Accessible, Hybrid, Multilingual Meetup
A11yTokyo Meetup is a unique meetup that features various genres of 'accessibility', conducted in a hybrid format of on-site and online broadcasting, primarily in Japanese and English.

Many foreigners participate in the on-site venue in Tokyo, building networks through socialization sessions. We use the voice recognition technology app 'UD Talk' to provide real-time captions, and its automatic translation feature allows for multi-language subtitle translation.

In past Tokyo venues, many Japanese and foreigners have participated. The post-session networking opportunity is a chance to build a global network! Additionally, people from various countries participate online from both within Japan and abroad.

Time Schedule
19:15 Venue Open

19:45 - 20:30 Workshop, Q&A
20:30 - 21:00 Networking (Recommended to join on-site. This month we will experiment a separate online networking session for English and Japanese speakers. The zoom link will be shared afterward. )
