The “Ghibli Expo” was held in 2015 at Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park (Nagakute City, Aichi Prefecture) and received a great response. In the past five years, the exhibition has traveled to 11 locations in Japan while being upgraded with more attractive exhibits.
This summer, all the exhibits will come together to complete the tour in Aichi, the “hometown” of Ghibli. In preparation for the opening of “Ghibli Park” in Aichi next year, the exhibition will look back on the 35 years since the birth of Studio Ghibli with a wealth of materials including nostalgic movie posters, goods, and original drawings that have never been shown to the public.
Compared to the first exhibition held at the Expo ‘70 Commemorative Park, the exhibition area has been expanded by about five times, and many exhibits will be displayed for the first time in Aichi, including the “flying giant ship” that appeared in “Castle in the Sky. This will be the last time it will be shown before it is stored at Ghibli Park.
Tickets for this exhibition are by reservation only.
