Job Description
Deeper Japan is searching for a professional writer passionate about Japanese traditional culture and sharing these rich traditions with audiences worldwide.

Visa sponsorship support: Not available
Salary: 30,000 JPY for the first article; 35,000 JPY for all articles after that
Responsibilities
Ideal applicants should be writers and thinkers, excited to push beyond touristic stereotypes and to engage substantively with Japanese culture. Assignments include researching and interviewing, writing articles, and crafting one-of-a-kind content for Deeper Japan. Tone of articles should be a mix of editorial and academic - our aim is to educate readers in an engaging yet informative way. In most cases, writers will be asked to submit (3) pitches in their areas of expertise, although some topics may be assigned or suggested if the need arises.
Article submission frequency can be determined on a personal basis. Please feel free to reach out if you have additional questions.
Qualifications
We're looking for writers with past experience writing articles of similar tone exploring themes of culture, history, and art. Please be able to set and meet deadlines and flexibly communicate regarding revisions to the work.
