Why we have this role @ Koala
Koala is seeking a talented and experienced Media Production Designer in Tokyo to join our Creative Production team–responsible for producing creative assets across Koala’s website, digital and offline advertising, and brand collateral in line with our Brand & Marketing department’s needs.
The ideal candidate has strong graphic design, print, and digital design skills with experience in the Japanese e-commerce industry and/or designing for commercial output. We’re seeking a highly motivated individual with strong time management skills and the ability to juggle many design tasks across a range of online and offline mediums.
Their day to day will primarily focus on a velocity-centric approach to delivering assets for our paid social media campaigns, online marketplaces, and the Koala Japan website. They will also support production of Koala’s print, OOH, and events collateral.
Although the role focuses on graphic design, we also expect our Media Production Coordinator to support video editing and web design activations at Koala. If you are a creative seeking the opportunity to have a huge impact across every aspect of our brand’s visual assets, we encourage you to apply!
Responsibilities
What key responsibilities does this role have @ Koala?
- Work under the direction of the Production Manager within the Production Team to prioritise and execute design tasks in a timely manner.
- Day-to-day production of graphic design assets for Koala Japan’s sale activations, campaigns, and product launches, primarily focusing on the needs of the Marketing org. Includes social ads, display ads, web assets, simple videos, and print campaigns (may include simple videos, OOH ads, packaging, signage, and more).
- Support cross-functional teams with creative production, including web assets, social assets, online marketplace collateral, email campaign assets, and more.
- Liaise with cross-functional partners for the procurement, production and delivery of materials
- Proactively and regularly review the performance of Paid Media assets to optimise our creative output. Ideal candidate should be deeply curious about how we can continually improve upon our creative; and confident in pitching new approaches.
- Maintain graphic and brand standards for Koala Japan.
Qualifications
Ideal background
- 3-5+ years experience in the design field
- Native Japanese
- Business level or higher in English
- Online portfolio that features a strong mix of commercial design, front end web design, & self-initiated work
- High proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Understands how to take a creative concept through to design stage
- Sound experience working from brief to execution across multiple mediums
- Solid understanding of production processes for print and digital
- Strong awareness of technology and digital trends
- Ability to work in a team as well as autonomously
- Experience working with Japanese market and brands
- Understanding of Japanese graphic aesthetic
- Great attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and within required deadlines
Nice-to-Haves
- Ability to create and edit video content (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Media Encoder)
- CSS skills to assist with simple frontend design and/or the coding of emails
