Job Description

As a User Experience designer at Koala, you have the opportunity to push the boundaries in e-Commerce. We need designers that challenge the status quo in creating beautiful, functional experiences that address our customers needs and fuels our company growth.

Koala Sleep Japan's UX/UI designers go beyond UI design for Koala.com to design an end-to-end customer journey that encompasses online and offline, ensuring that the customer-brand relationship is always optimal and comfortable. Ultimately, you’ll create both functional and appealing features that address our clients’ needs and help us grow our customer base, and support marketing strategies.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all customer experiences on Koala.com and keeping the UI and content displayed on the site optimized based on site and business performance.
  • Management, planning, editing and performance analysis of all content displayed on Koala.com
  • Expert for all things UX/UI, Identifying, defining and prioritizing out customers needs/desires/goals to create a successful end-to-end customer journey that supports koalas vision and achieves customers needs.
  • Designing and conducting research activities. In collaboration with product managers, engineers and marketing teams to uncover insights and validate or enhance our existing understanding of the user experience.
  • Making logical and rational decisions and supporting these with qualitative insights and numerical evidence.
  • Creating and delivering end to end UX work in the form of customer journeys, user flows, sketches, wireframes, interactive prototypes.
  • Help Build, evolve and maintain our design systems and customer journey to ensure an accessible and consistent brand experience across all online/offline customer touch points includes digital platforms .
  • Contribute to evolving the UX/UI Design practice and collaborating with the team.
  • Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
  • Design change to components or create new components in a headless ecommerce framework. Work with PMs & developers in an agile process to implement.
    • Build page navigation buttons and search fields
    • Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like
    • Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors, and images
    • Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback
  • Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)
  • Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders
  • Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)

Qualifications

  • 3yrs+ in marketing AND UX/UI design experience preferably within a customer centric business
  • An obsession with customer centric design
  • Portfolio of design projects to share through upon application
  • Native Japanese and high level of business English proficiency preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing basic marketing processes in strategy and analysis, such as 3C, STP, 4P, GA, etc.
  • Knowledge of Figma wireframe tools (or similar - Wireframe.cc, InVision)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of design software like Sketch, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
