Job Description

Role: Communication Manager for Gaming Categories

Location: Tokyo

You will collaborate and share the work above with another Communication Manager for the gaming categories.  You are expected to independently lead mainly above, while you may eventually take on digital ads and in-store marketing as well partially or fully, depending on the business needs, skill development needs/interest of you and other team members, per Marketing Director’s judgment. 

You will report to the Marketing Director, who reports to Japan GM. 

You will have an intern staff supporting you as a shared resource in the gaming categories, reporting to you as a dotted line.

This position works closely with different functions including Category Managers for the gaming categories, Sales managers, Global and Regional Marketing Communication Teams/stakeholders. 


The Communication Manager plays a key role in driving the growth of the gaming categories (gaming mice, gaming keyboards, gaming headset/earphones, etc), through planning/executing holistic marketing such as:

  • KOL marketing (eSports sponsorship and gaming streamer collaborations) via agencies or directly, to build a strong brand and maximize purchase intent toward our existing or new products
  • PR activities collaborating with key gaming publishers/media, incl. new product launch events, via an agency or directly
  • Owned social media activation (Twitter, YouTube, etc), via an agency or directly
  • Digital ads (creative development and media planning/optimization) effectively utilizing digital agencies, to achieve agreed strategy and KPI’s
  • In-store marketing including point-of-sales materials and planogram development, working closely with a design agency, sales teams, and merchandisers
  • Effectiveness/efficiency/ROI tracking of the activities in charge, to identify improvement opportunities


For consideration, you must bring the following skills and behaviors:

  • 5+ years of experience in Marketing communications including KOL marketing, PR, owned social media, digital ads/media, and in-store communication, for B2C consumer goods brands at a brand owner end (not at an agency end or in service industries)
  • If you are a PC gamer especially FPS/TPS players, it is a huge plus.  At least having a high interest in PC shooting games is necessary
  • Demonstrated consumer centric approach understanding consumer needs, insight, and other factors for innovative solutions
  • Logical/analytical mind and numerical effectiveness tracking experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence brand strategy to internal and external stakeholders
  • Agility to work in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams, both functionally and geographically is critical – great communicator
  • Self-management skills and self-started attitude highly valued
  • Business level English (both verbal and written) is a must
