Operations Manager / Project Manager

Responsibilities

• Project Coordination and Management:
• Work closely with the CEO and the development team to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget.
• Manage the end-to-end project life cycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure.
• Facilitate communication between internal teams and clients, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of project progress.


• Team Management:
• Oversee the local Japan team and ensure optimum performance and engagement.
• Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new team members as required.


• Client Management:
• Serve as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations are managed appropriately.
• Assist with market entry consulting, particularly for games, and localization of games for the Japanese market.


• Operational Efficiency:
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement operational efficiencies.
• Ensure operational processes adhere to legal and company standards.


• General Marketing:
• Support digital marketing initiatives
• Assist in the development and execution of marketing strategies targeted at the Japanese market.

Qualifications

• Proficient in both Japanese (native) and English, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• A strong understanding of the Japanese business landscape and culture. Ability to facilitate business level Japanese conversations and knowledge of language and customs necessary to communicate with Japanese clients. 
• Previous experience in operations management, project management or a related field.
• Familiarity with software development, particularly in Unity, Unreal, or Godot game engines. General awareness is OK, you don’t need to be a developer
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, or a related field (preferred).

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Trello or other project management software; SCRUM is a huge plus
• Experience with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
• Experience in using ChatGPT to speed up tasks like translation, organization, reporting and problem solving
• Experience in the video game industry or working with indie games / small software teams; general interest in this field is also OK if you don’t have any experience yet
• Experience with Figma and Notion for ideation, brainstorming and project management 

Preferred Cultural Proficiency

• We are seeking a candidate who has a deep understanding of and familiarity with Japanese culture to bridge the cultural and linguistic barriers between our international team and the Japanese market.
