Job Description

This position is responsible for efficiently managing turn-key projects with a “hands on” approach to ensure on-time delivery, under budget expenses and customer scope & quality satisfaction and reports to the Branch Lead Project Manager


Responsibilities

  • Management of and actively involved in the development from initiation through to completion of a Project.
  • Co-ordinate with Sales, Technical Support, Manufacturing and Customer Service & Logistics to ensure knowledge sharing, equipment and performance objectives are attainable and met for each project.
  • Manage costs, schedule, documentation, quality, start-up/commissioning and training elements of each project you are assigned.
  • Project scheduled meetings with manufacturing as well as with customers.
  • Project scheduled reports pertaining to Schedule, Costs and Risks to management.
  • Compile costing sheets for cash flow analysis and the recording thereof.
  • Support the sales team by providing machine specification and cost estimations for quotations, which may include sourcing and pricing additional non-standard equipment.
  • Design or provide specifications to external suppliers of project requirements.
  • Accountable for ensuring all project plans are drafted, maintained and updated to all involved in the project, resolving problems, actioning solutions to bring projects on time, within budget and to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Accountable for all equipment orders, follow up and communication to all parties.
  • Accountable for forming and ensuring the Project Team is productive.
  • Accountable for making minor changes to plans.
  • Liaise with Technical Support to ensure all aspects of installation are covered including layouts, contract amendments, variations to scope, etc.
  • Follow up all payments for all orders/projects are received timeously (prior to installation as well as as per agreed terms)
  • Attend and work at trade shows / exhibitions held throughout the year (including some weekends)

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in an engineering discipline is mandatory.
  • A project Management diploma/certificate is desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years in project management or project engineering.

  • Exposure to the manufacturing (specifically food and packaging) industry is advantageous.
  • Sound knowledge using AutoCAD and MS Project (or other Gantt chart software) is essential.
  • High level of product knowledge is advantageous.
  • Well organized, diligent and a team player.
  • Ensures a collaborative approach and is able to seek and listen to feedback across all disciplines and areas of the business.
  • High attention to detail and processes.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.
  • Able to build strong relationships both internally and externally.
  • Able to lead teams and provide guidance.
  • Logical problem solving & decision making skills in line with organizational philosophies and practices (5 Y process knowledge)
  • Able to use project management tools to track milestones and outcomes.
  • Fluent with English language proficiency, written and verbal (if applicable)
  • Valid drivers license and vehicle in good working order.
  • Valid Passport with more than 6 months before expiry.
  • Prepared to travel at short notice, locally and overseas, including weekends.
