Job Description

Technovation Girls is an app development and entrepreneurship contest for female and gender-minority middle and high school students organized by iridecent, a STEM education NPO in the United States.

The program is designed to help students acquire entrepreneurial spirit and app development skills to become the next generation of tech leaders by examining new businesses that solve social issues and developing apps as a team.

As a project manager in this mission, you will be responsible for expanding the impact of the business autonomously.

As a small elite team, each person has a large amount of discretion, and discussions are held in a flat environment.

Our mission is to provide students with life-changing experiences through their encounters with Waffle, while also engaging in hands-on activities and discussions with other members of the team. As a project manager, we are looking for someone who can autonomously expand the impact of this business.

Responsibilities

Project management of Technovation Girls, an app development start-up contest!

<Specifically>

  • Planning and managing boot camps for entrepreneurs and programming, and supporting student teams
  • Planning and organizing corporate events and official Japanese domestic pitch events
  • Directing Technovation Girls to make it a better program
  • Create a framework for smooth operation of Technovation Girls in the following fiscal year and beyond
  • Respecting collaboration with partner companies and other communities, and structuring the program while building relationships with them.

Qualifications

  • Those who share our philosophy and are willing to learn about gender issues and continue to take action
  • Able to listen to students and provide support as needed
  • Experience in managing some kind of event or project in a PM or PL capacity

└Experience negotiating with local governments, companies, etc. in the implementation of events and seminars

└Experience in community management

Required Skills

  • Basic PC skills and the ability to create documents (Google Workspace or Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Japanese: Business level(need to communicate students)

Welcomed Skills

  • English: Business level (TOEIC 800 or above) or equivalent
  • Experience in online community and organizing events

  • Able to be flexible and adaptable in a rapidly expanding organization
  • Those who want to be involved in all aspects of education (may be asked to be a PM for another Waffle business).

About the Company

Waffle is the only NPO that provides IT education and empowerment opportunities for girls and gender-minority junior high, high school, high school, and university students to achieve its mission of "closing the gender gap in the IT field.

Though relatively new, Waffle has won several prestigious awards, including one personally delivered by the Prime Minister such as “SDGs Partnership Award"" at the 4th Japan SDGs Awards sponsored by the Japanese government.

Waffle published "Me x IT = The Strongest Theory: A Guide for Girls & Gender Minorities to Work in IT”.

  • Fixed overtime allowance (45 hours per month: 88,984 yen to 106,780 yen)
  • Fixed late-night work allowance (7,910 yen to 9,492 yen for 20 hours per month)
    *As late-night work may occur in the course of business, a fixed monthly late-night work allowance is paid.
    (We do not allow employees to work late-night hours, but we set it this way because of our flexible work schedule.)
    *The excess amount will be paid in full.
