Job Description

TEAM

Our team builds the in-cabin monitoring system (IMS) which provides monitoring for driver and passenger inattentiveness, including visual distraction, and eye closure, which is becoming a standard safety feature in new vehicles. There are still many challenges to overcome though, including how to handle the monitoring of different drivers, passengers in different driving environments and how to handle anything that could obstruct the camera from recognizing facial features, such as eyewear or facial hair.

We aim to develop tools and environments to use for monitoring system capabilities, improve robustness, and expand use cases to make sure drivers maintain the appropriate level of focus depending on the situation and level of automation in the vehicle.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

You are passionate about making safe, driverless vehicles a reality. You will develop software for vehicles, evaluating the software through simulation and in actual vehicles, then perform analysis and implement further improvements. You have solid experience developing hardware and software from the planning phase to post-release maintenance. You are also expected to develop utility tools to improve our work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the software for in-cabin monitoring with matlab/simulink
  • Evaluate image recognition software and identify improvement areas
  • Develop optimization tools to automate development workflow
  • Help manage project schedule, budget, outputs, and customer satisfaction
  • Collaborate with other developers and contractors in managing software implementation
  • Communicate with team members and identify deliverables within Woven by Toyota, Toyota, and other suppliers
  • Come to the office 3 days per week per our hybrid work policy, and report to the manager for In-Cabin Perception Development

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher education
  • Project management experience, including developing mass-produced products
  • At least 3 years experience in MATLAB/Simulink, C++, Python or other major programming languages
  • Familiarity with data science and analytics
  • Experience in evaluation of image recognition systems, human sensing systems, or any other related products in the industry
  • Experience collaborating using fluent Japanese (equivalent to JLPT-N2 or higher) with companies in a Japanese culture environment, such as Toyota and other group companies, and conversational English

NICE TO HAVES:

  • Experience in Agile/Scrum working style
  • Knowledge about optimization algorithms
  • Experience in software development in AWS
  • Experience in software development in CI/CD toolchains
  • Work experience outside of Japan
  • Business-level English communication ability

If you are located outside of Japan we will set up an interview over Google Hangout Meet.
