South Bay UX: Designing for the 10-Foot Experience

Details

The television has been around for almost a century, but major innovations in the TV space have only come about in the last couple of decades. With millions of users streaming thousands of programs daily, interacting with the TV has become a normal part of our everyday lives. But, do we ever stop and think about the design behind these experiences? What considerations do designers take into account when creating a 10-foot experience? How is TV interaction different from mobile or desktop? How can devices work together to augment the TV experience? What technologies are being used in televisions today, and what will TV experiences look like in the future? In her talk, Kristen will address these questions and more. Please join us.

Kristen is currently a senior product design manager at Samsung Electronics, based in Mountain View, CA. She leads a team of talented designers who work on TV and mobile experiences. While at Samsung, she has shipped products including Family Hub Refrigerator Display, The Frame TV, and Samsung TV Plus. Kristen’s previous clients include Sony, British Sky Broadcasting, and Microsoft. When she is not working, Kristen loves to travel and learn about different cultures.
