Social Media Specialist (English-Japanese Bilingual)
Location: Tokyo (with flexibility to travel across Japan)
Role Overview
We are seeking a bilingual Social Media Specialist to lead and execute byFood’s social media strategy across all platforms. This person will also manage the pre-production process for our YouTube channel, attend shoots, and actively capture content at restaurants and experiences. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about food, culture, and digital storytelling.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute byFood’s social media strategy across major platforms
- Create, schedule, and publish English-language content (posts, reels, videos, stories) aligned with brand goals
- Capture on-site content by attending restaurants, experiences, and YouTube shoots (filming and photography)
- Manage YouTube pre-production, including briefs, storyboards, and securing filming permissions
- Collaborate with influencers, hosts, and production teams to deliver high-quality content
- Monitor trends, manage community interactions, and foster audience growth
- Track KPIs and provide regular reports with insights for improvement
Qualifications
- Bilingual in Japanese and English (written and spoken)
- Based in Tokyo, with flexibility to travel across Japan
- Proven experience managing brand social media accounts across multiple platforms
- Strong understanding of audience behavior and content trends on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Ability to capture high-quality photos and short-form videos on-site
- Experience in YouTube pre-production or video content planning is a strong plus
Nice-to-Have
- Familiarity with food, travel, or hospitality industries
- Basic skills in video editing or graphic design
- Experience working with influencers or ambassadors
- Knowledge of filming permissions and local regulations in Japan
