Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!
Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.
About the Group/Team
You’ll be joining the Japan Team as part of the International Supergroup, whose mission is to make Canva the most localised global product in the world. We work at the intersection of product, marketing, content, and go-to-market — collaborating closely with in-region teams to deeply understand and serve local users.
As the Product Manager for Japan, you’ll define and drive a multi-year strategy while serving as the key point of contact for all things product across the market. Whether it’s tailoring onboarding for new users, collaborating with Payments on preferred methods, building localised experiences for different user segments, or driving strategic content partnerships - your work will help unlock Canva’s full potential across the region.
About the Role/Specialty
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Product Manager to lead the development of a localised product experience tailored for the Japanese market. As a key player in our international expansion efforts, you will be responsible for understanding the unique needs of Japanese users and building product experiences that resonate deeply with them. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams across design, engineering, marketing, research, and analytics, among others to shape a best-in-class product for Japan while aligning with our global product vision.
Responsibilities
- Own the product strategy and roadmap for the Japan-specific user experience, ensuring alignment with company-wide goals.
- Identify localisation opportunities including features, UI/UX changes, language nuances, cultural sensitibility, payments, customer support, and content, to establish Canva as a truly local product for Japanese users.
- Deeply understand Japanese user behaviour, cultural expectations, and challenges through user research, market analysis, and data insights.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with global and regional teams to define, build, test, and launch high-impact features.
- Drive end-to-end product lifecycle — from ideation to rollout, tracking success metrics and iterating based on feedback.
- Prioritise features based on business impact, user value, and technical feasibility.
- Act as the voice of Japanese users, advocating for their needs and preferences in product development discussions.
- Navigate the unique dynamics of Japanese business culture in B2B contexts, including decision-making processes and relationship building
Qualifications
- You have 5+ years of product management experience, including owning product strategy and working in cross-functional teams
- You’ve shipped products in Japan, and understand the nuanced cultural, commercial, and user dynamics
- You’re a strong communicator and cross-functional leader who builds deep relationships and alignment across global teams. You combine big-picture thinking with hands-on execution - and are happy to jump into the weeds when needed.
- You thrive in ambiguity, love solving hard problems, and approach product decisions from first principles lens.
- You’re user-obsessed - deeply curious about behaviours, friction, and delight across diverse audiences.
- You have experience in both B2C and B2B environments, and a proven ability to drive user engagement and growth.
About the Company
Canva is a global online visual communications platform on a mission to empower the world to design. Featuring a simple drag-and-drop user interface and a vast range of templates ranging from presentations, documents, websites, social media graphics, posters, apparel to videos, plus a huge library of fonts, stock photography, illustrations, video footage, and audio clips, anyone can take an idea and create something beautiful on Canva on any device, from anywhere in the world.
Since our launch in 2013, we’ve had the crazy big goal of making design accessible to everyone. We were founded on the belief that people shouldn't need to understand complex software to unlock their creativity. We’re leveling the playing field and democratizing access to design and visual communication by empowering 100% of the world to communicate in a way that was once limited to the 1%.
We've always had a deeper mission surrounding Canva — which we talk about as our 'simple' two-step plan: to build one of the world’s most valuable companies, and to do the most good we possibly can. We're committed to our core value of Being a Force for Good, so as the value of our company grows, so too does our ability to have a positive impact on the world.
