In this role, you will drive the technical strategy to elevate the polish, performance, and delight of the Google App on iOS. You will be responsible for comprehensively identifying and remedying jank across critical user journeys, transforming the iOS Google App into a iOS experience. You will work across different engineering groups and technical stacks. You will partner closely with product, UX and data science to determine how best to bring changes to the market. By fostering a culture of technical excellence and craftsmanship, you will directly drive user sentiment and result in long-term engagement growth with the iOS Google App.

Responsibilities
- Craft iOS Google App into an exceptional app on iOS.
- Work with cross-functional partners to drive consensus on an app-level vision and drive engineering implementation of said vision.
- Create and scale engineering systems to prevent backsliding on appyness.
- Establish strong relationships with Partner Engineering teams.
- Work with other engineering leads across iOS Google app, both within our group and in our Platform team.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C++, Objective-C or Swift).5 years of experience with iOS application development.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with large-scale application design and architecture.
- Experience designing and implementing user interfaces for iOS applications using UIKit or SwiftUI.
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience with full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) in a production environment.
- Experience with iOS multiple concurrency systems (Swift Concurrency, Actors, Publishers, GCD, NSOperations) and managing complex multithreaded code.
- Familiarity with debugging performance related issues with tooling like Instruments and integrating support for tracing through client code.
