Koala is on a mission to be the most loved DTC brand in Japan — and our next big leap is to become the #1 brand in Japan for influencer marketing. To do that, we’re hiring a dedicated Influencer Marketing Specialist to own and scale this critical function.

This role sits at the intersection of brand building and growth marketing, and is perfect for someone who’s equally creative and analytical.


Responsibilities

  • Planning: Build and execute Japan’s influencer roadmap with a test-and-learn content framework (Platform: YouTube, Meta, TikTok and Organic Social)
  • Testing: Develop monthly testing plans across creator types (e.g. VTubers, athletes, business leaders) and content angles (e.g. comedy, sleep education, lifestyle)
  • Influencer booking: Identify, source, and negotiate with influencers, agents, and content creators
  • Briefing: Manage influencer briefing, creative approvals, and production to ensure on-brand output
  • KPI tracking: Define clear performance metrics per influencer tier and campaign type
  • Organic Social Media: monthly management of our organic Instagram channel with a primary focus on influencer/creator content
  • Support to create PR & Communication strategies for brand, new products and promotions
  • KOL Gifting arrangement (contact KOLs, issue coupon, arrange the deliver)
  • Ad hoc support for admin tasks for PR initiatives
  • Ad hob ideation support for PR initiatives


Qualifications

Ideal Background

  • 3+ years in influencer marketing
  • Strong network and understanding of Japanese influencers & creators across YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok platforms
  • Experience in influencer marketing across both organic and paid social (including YouTube) media channels
  • Comfortable managing both creative direction and commercial negotiations
  • Familiarity with performance metrics: CAC, sessions, conversions, engagement, etc.
  • Native Japanese language ability, business-level English preferred
  • Nice to have: 2+ years in social media marketing
  • Nice to have: Experience with dashboard or reports measuring influencer impact
  • Nice to have: experience working in PR or media environment
