Job Description
Lead the evolution of our React and Next.js frontends — build high-performance, accessible interfaces that millions of users rely on for real-time AI-assisted interviews and career preparation.
We’re looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer who can own large surface areas of the product and raise the bar for UI quality, performance, and developer experience. You’ll work across our real-time copilot interface, the marketing site, and internal tools — shipping features that directly affect how candidates experience AI-powered interview assistance.
You’ll collaborate closely with product, design, and backend engineers to translate complex AI capabilities into intuitive, responsive interfaces. The ideal candidate combines deep React expertise with a strong eye for polish and a bias toward shipping.
Responsibilities
Core Product Development
- Build and maintain the real-time copilot UI — low-latency overlays, streaming text, audio visualization, and adaptive layouts
- Own key product surfaces end-to-end: dashboard, session history, interview simulator, and onboarding flows
- Implement complex state management for real-time WebSocket data, AI model responses, and multi-step user workflows
- Ensure feature parity and excellent UX across desktop and mobile viewports
Performance & Reliability
- Profile, diagnose, and resolve frontend performance bottlenecks — bundle size, render cycles, network waterfalls
- Implement code splitting, lazy loading, and caching strategies to achieve sub-second page loads
- Build comprehensive error handling, logging, and monitoring for frontend systems
- Drive Core Web Vitals improvements across all user-facing surfaces
Architecture & Developer Experience
- Define and evolve the frontend architecture — component patterns, state management, API layer, and testing strategy
- Build reusable component libraries and design system primitives in collaboration with design
- Establish code quality standards, review processes, and CI/CD pipelines for frontend
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical decision-making across the team
Design Collaboration & UX
- Partner with product design to translate Figma specs into pixel-perfect, accessible implementations
- Prototype and validate new interaction patterns for AI-powered features
- Champion accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) and responsive design best practices
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 5+ years of professional frontend development with React and TypeScript in production environments
- Deep experience with Next.js (App Router, SSR/SSG, API routes, middleware)
- Track record of shipping high-quality, performant web applications used by thousands or millions of users
- Experience with real-time web technologies (WebSockets, Server-Sent Events, WebRTC) is strongly preferred
- Startup or high-growth environment experience — comfort with ambiguity and fast iteration
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- We value demonstrated skill over credentials — a strong portfolio or open-source contributions carry significant weight.
Technical Skills
- Expert-level React and TypeScript — hooks, context, concurrent features, performance optimization
- Strong CSS/Tailwind skills — responsive design, animations, complex layouts
- Experience with state management (Zustand, Redux, Jotai) and data fetching (React Query, SWR)
- Familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright/Cypress)
- Understanding of CI/CD, build tools (Vite, Webpack, Turbopack), and deployment pipelines
- Working knowledge of SEO, web analytics, and accessibility standards
Strategic & Soft Skills
- Strong product intuition — you care about the user experience, not just the code
- Excellent communication — clear code reviews, technical RFCs, and async collaboration
- Self-directed — you can take a vague product brief and drive it to a polished, shipped feature
- Mentorship mindset — you raise the bar for the whole team, not just yourself
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building real-time AI interfaces (streaming LLM outputs, speech-to-text overlays)
- Familiarity with audio/video APIs (Web Audio, MediaRecorder, WebRTC)
- Background building Chrome extensions or desktop apps (Electron/Tauri)
- Experience with animation libraries (Framer Motion, GSAP)
- Contributions to open-source React or frontend tooling projects
- Experience in edtech, career tech, or SaaS B2C products
