Production Specialist

Job Description

As our Production Specialist serves as Toon Boom’s technical and creative ambassador in Japan — bridging studios, education, and government programs. You will collaborate closely with Sales and Solutions teams to design and implement production workflows that demonstrate Toon Boom Harmony and Storyboard Pro’s value. You will report directly to our Director of Sales - Japan.

🌍 Work Location

This is a 100% remote position based in Japan, hired under our Toon Boom Japan legal entity. While there is no physical office requirement for this role, you must be based in Tokyo to be eligible for this position.

Responsibilities

• You will design and execute POCs with studios, integrating Toon Boom tools into Japanese pipelines.
• You will develop localized demo assets and documentation.
• You will provide on-site support during pilot and production phases.
• You will serve as the technical reference at events and workshops, such as the Japan Production Summit.
• You will train educators and align school curricula with industry workflows.
• You will collaborate with sales on client solutions, renewals, and demo delivery.
• You will liaise with education programs.

Qualifications

🎯 What you'll need

• You have 5+ years of experience in 2D animation production with Toon Boom Harmony and Storyboard Pro.
• You possess native Japanese fluency and Business English proficiency.
• You maintain a strong understanding of cut-out / rig-based animation workflows (Western workflows).
• You demonstrate excellent presentation and cross-cultural communication skills.
• You bring preferred experience as a Production Coordinator, Technical Director, or Rigging Lead.
• You hold deep knowledge of Japanese studio practices and anime production styles.
• You consider experience mentoring or teaching digital animation to be a significant plus.
• You are collaborative, self-motivated, and culturally fluent.
• You are a problem solver who thrives in hybrid creative-technical roles.
• You are passionate about modernizing Japan’s animation workflows.
