Job Description

The Designer in Japan is responsible for creating visually compelling and localized digital content that supports client growth across online marketplaces and e-commerce platforms. This role owns the creative strategy for Amazon, Rakuten, and Shopify, ensuring brand consistency and visual excellence tailored to the Japanese market. Working closely with the E-commerce and Marketing teams, the Designer develops and optimizes creatives for product listings, campaigns, social media, and promotional initiatives to drive engagement and sales. The position also involves supporting occasional offline design projects as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Creative Ownership: Lead the creative process for client brands across Amazon, Rakuten, and Shopify, ensuring designs align with campaign goals, brand identity, and platform requirements.
  • Design Execution: Create and optimize banners, product images, and campaign visuals that meet brand standards and drive higher conversion rates.
  • Localization: Adapt global brand visuals to fit Japanese consumer preferences and cultural context.
  • Collaboration: Work with E-commerce and Marketing Managers to deliver on-brand creatives for campaigns, ads, and promotions — always meeting platform or client deadlines.
  • Data Awareness: Use performance data and insights to refine visuals and improve design impact on conversion and engagement.
  • Global Coordination: Collaborate with global creative teams to align on brand direction and design consistency.
  • Ad-hoc Support: Assist with offline or cross-departmental creative requests as needed.

Qualifications

【Required】

  • 2+ years of experience in digital or e-commerce design in Japan
  • Hands-on proficiency withAdobe illustrator,Figma and Adobe Photoshop
  • Ability to balance creativity with business goals, designing with conversion and performance metrics in mind
  • Experience adapting and localizing global brand creatives for the Japanese market
  • Native or very fluent level of Japanese, and ability to understand written English (emails, briefs, brand guidelines)
  • Strong sense of ownership and project management skills, able to meet tight client and marketplace deadlines

【Preferred】

  • Experience collaborating with Marketing and E-commerce teams on campaign creatives
  • Strong understanding of design requirements for Amazon, Rakuten, and Shopify
  • Familiarity with digital advertising formats (Meta Ads, Google Ads, etc.) and social media design standards
  • Understanding of UI/UX principles and how design impacts conversion and user experience
  • Knowledge of motion graphics or basic video editing
  • Experience working with global brand guidelines or within international creative teams
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, or JavaScript for e-commerce or landing page design

【Work Conditions】

  • Employment type: Full-time, permanent
  • Location: Tokyo 23 wards (office-based, with potential for partial remote work)
  • Working hours: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm (flexible time system)
  • Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, year-end/New Year
  • Salary: Negotiable (based on experience and skills)

  • Probation Period: 6 months (employment will be under a fixed-term contract during this period)
